I also unlocked the achievements for playing and winning a game of triple triad on my 'original xbox one'. So my original saved game was capable of unlocking achievements it seems. I was also able to go back to my game save that I was playing (hadn't progressed much further far at this point) and could continue and was able to unlock the ifrit achievement first time. Sometime later I attempted this again on my 'original xbox one' and the achievements popped first time. I eventually continued playing the game further thinking I could always easily start a new game again in the future to try and get these achievements again. I started the game on my 'xbox one x' and after restarting the game multiple times I could not seem to get the shiva and quezacotl achievements to pop. Ok, so my observations so far are as follows:
Sorry (for both of us) that I have no real answer to what the problem is, but maybe some other players of the game can shed some light in this thread. I know Xbox Live (among other services) has been having issues recently, but I think if it was solely an Xbox Live issue then the unlock rate of the early achievements would be lower. If I'm to finish the game and beat Omega Weapon I want to make damn sure I'm going to get awarded the achievements for it.
It was late night when I started the game, and when I realised achievements weren't unlocking for me I was too tired to start again put the game on hold and went to bed, hoping the issues will be resolved in a while. I've only played up to Ifrit once, not twice like yourself. The site says 2,007 gamers have unlocked the Quezacotl achievement out of 2,023 owners of the game, so the problem isn't widespread. Those and the achievement for playing Triple Triad too.
